Wise Arabic organises vocabulary so you are not choosing from one flat list. You can find and structure vocabulary through Collections, Categories, Books, and Pathways.
They serve different purposes:
- Collections group words by topic.
- Categories help you find collections by domain.
- Books follow textbook order.
- Pathways order collections around a learner goal.
Collections
A collection is a themed group of words, such as cooking, body parts, greetings, Qur'anic vocabulary, or medical consultations.
Use a collection when you want to add words from one topic. Open the word details when needed, then add only the words you actually want in review.
A collection can be useful even if you do not add every word. Selective study is better than adding a large batch you will not review. When you are done with a collection but skipped some words, you can mark it complete so your progress reflects that.
Categories
A category is a broader topic area containing multiple collections. Use Categories when you know the domain but not the exact collection.
For example, if you want family vocabulary, food vocabulary, or religious vocabulary, a category helps you find the right collection without searching the whole library.
Collections may be marked beginner, intermediate, or advanced to help you choose an appropriate level.
Books
A book is a textbook-aligned source organised by chapter and page. Use Books when your study follows a series such as Madinah Arabic, Al-Arabiyyah Bayna Yadayk, or Lisan al-Qur'an.
A book chapter works like a vocabulary source: inspect the words, add what you need, then review them. If you are following a textbook, you can choose a Book plan as your active Study Plan.
Pathways
A Pathway is an ordered sequence of collections around a goal. It is useful when you want structure but are not following a textbook.
Pathways can cover aims such as general vocabulary, media, medicine, Islamic studies, or business. If you want goal-based structure, you can choose a Pathway plan as your active Study Plan.
How they fit together
Category → Collection → Word
Book → Chapter → Word
Pathway → Collection → Word
A word can appear in more than one place. Adding it once is enough. If you later meet the same word in another collection or book chapter, it still belongs to the same saved vocabulary.
Bookmarks and flags
Use bookmarks and flags before or after adding words:
- bookmark a word when you want to find it later;
- flag a word when you want to revisit a problem, confusion, or possible issue;
- bookmark a collection when you want to return to the topic.
Bookmarks and flags do not put a word into review. Only adding the word to My Vocabulary does that.
