My Vocabulary is the list of words you have chosen to study. If Explore is where you find words, My Vocabulary is where you manage the words Wise Arabic can schedule for review.
Use it to answer:
- What am I currently studying?
- Which words have I saved but not yet learned well?
- Which words are bookmarked or flagged?
- Which words should I remove because they are no longer useful?
What belongs in My Vocabulary
A word appears in My Vocabulary after you add it there. From that point, Wise Arabic can create review cards for it and include it in your spaced-repetition schedule.
Bookmarking alone is different. A bookmarked word is only saved for later reference. It does not enter review until you add it to your words.
Use My Vocabulary for maintenance
My Vocabulary is not just a record. It is where you keep your study set clean.
Useful maintenance habits:
- remove words you added too early or no longer want to review;
- open word details for items you keep missing;
- filter by nouns, verbs, or pieces when you want to inspect a specific type;
- check flagged words and clear flags once the issue is resolved;
- check the Suspended page occasionally and unsuspend cards you are ready to resume;
- use bookmarks when you want to revisit a word before deciding whether to study it.
A smaller, intentional word bank is better than a large one you cannot keep up with.
Learned, in progress, and new words
Progress labels describe your review history. They do not mean a word is permanently mastered or permanently weak.
- New words have not yet had enough review history.
- In progress words are still being stabilised.
- Learned words have become more durable through review.
A learned word can still come back for review. Spaced repetition protects memory by bringing words back before they fade.
When to open word details
Open word details when a word needs more than a simple translation.
This is especially useful for:
- verbs where the present form or root matters;
- nouns with irregular or multiple plurals;
- near-synonyms with different usage;
- words you keep rating Again or Hard;
- pieces that only make sense as a whole phrase.
Suspending a card instead of removing a word
Removal is permanent housekeeping; suspension is a pause. If a word still belongs in your vocabulary but one of its review cards is not worth the effort right now — a rare plural, a direction you keep failing — suspend that card from the word's details or during a review session.
Suspended cards are skipped in reviews and keep their progress. The Suspended page in My Vocabulary lists them all, with search and bulk unsuspend when you are ready to bring them back.
Removing a word
Remove a word when you no longer want it in review. If it is irrelevant, too advanced, duplicated, or added by mistake, remove it so your review load stays focused. If you only want a break from a word, suspend its cards instead.
