Use the dashboard at the start of a session to answer one question: what should I do next?
The dashboard answers it directly. Every day it works out one next action and an exact word pace for the day, based on what is due, what you have saved, and the review load you said you can sustain.
Follow the guidance
The guidance at the top of the dashboard resolves your situation into one instruction. It will be one of a few shapes:
- Only review today. Your due reviews are heavy. Clear them; new words would make tomorrow worse.
- Start with review, then save N words. Reviews come first, but today can absorb some new material. The number is exact.
- Start learning saved words. You have saved words you have not begun reviewing. Begin those before saving more.
- Save N words today. Nothing is due; the pace is the day's work.
- Continue lightly or You are done for today. The useful work is finished. Browsing is fine; saving more is not needed.
The word pace is a recommendation, not a limit. To understand where the number comes from, and what it costs to exceed it, read Your daily pace.
Do not treat the dashboard as a checklist to clear. It is a decision aid.
Read the review load forecast
Below the guidance, the forecast compares word paces against your preferred daily review load: what your review days look like if you save nothing, a few words a day, or many.
Use it when you are deciding whether to speed up or slow down. It shows what today's saving will cost you in reviews later, before you commit to it.
Read the main numbers correctly
The headline numbers are global across your account. They are not limited to your active Study Plan.
- Words learned means saved words Wise Arabic currently treats as retained based on their review cards.
- Cards due today means review cards due by the end of your current review day.
- Current streak means consecutive review days where you completed at least one review.
A streak is descriptive. Missing a day does not damage your vocabulary; it only means the next session may have more due cards.
Continue your Study Plan
If you have an active Study Plan, the dashboard shows where you are in it (the unit you just finished, the current one, and what comes next) with a direct way to continue.
- A Book plan continues chapter by chapter.
- A Pathway plan continues collection by collection.
- Words you add outside the plan still belong to My Vocabulary and still enter review.
If you have no plan, the same spot offers the choice of Books and Pathways so you can pick one without leaving the dashboard. Choosing none remains a valid way to study.
If you repeatedly ignore the suggested next step, change the plan. The plan exists to reduce friction, not to trap you.
Use progress as feedback, not pressure
Use the dashboard numbers to adjust your workload, not to chase metrics:
- If due cards are rising faster than you can clear them, add fewer new words for a few days.
- If accuracy drops, slow down and read word details after mistakes.
- If many words are still in learning, avoid large new batches.
- If flagged words accumulate, schedule a short cleanup session.
The dashboard is useful only when it changes what you do next. If a number does not help that decision, ignore it.
Act on Needs Attention and Review Friction
Two dashboard sections point at the words and cards that are absorbing the most effort:
- Needs Attention lists words you flagged, words you keep struggling with, and words back in relearning. For a difficult word, the usual first step is to study its details more deeply.
- Review Friction ranks the cards that are forgotten most often or consistently rated Hard.
When a card keeps getting in the way despite restudying, you do not have to keep grinding it. You can suspend the card — during a review session or from the word's details — and it is skipped in reviews until you bring it back. Understand your review day
Wise Arabic counts "today" using your review day, not UTC midnight. Your review day follows the timezone and day-reset hour in Settings. The default reset is 3 AM so a late-night session is not split across two days.
This affects due counts, streaks, and charts. If you study close to midnight, make sure your reset hour matches your real study pattern.
