Introduction

First session

What happens when you first sign up, and what to do in your first real session.

Your first Wise Arabic session should leave you with three things:

  1. A small set of saved words.
  2. A clear next source to continue from.
  3. At least one review completed.

Keep it small. The aim is to start the loop, not to build a perfect vocabulary system on day one.

The guided setup

When you create an account, Wise Arabic walks you through a short guided setup before the dashboard. It covers the whole loop once, in miniature:

  • what Wise Arabic is and how spaced repetition works;
  • picking a Study Plan, if you want one;
  • saving your first five starter words;
  • two short review rounds on those words;
  • Arabic display, transliteration, and timezone preferences.

The reviews in the setup are real. They count towards your streak and review history, and the cards are scheduled to return like any other review.

The guided setup runs the full loop once: save, review, and set preferences.

You can skip the setup at any point. Nothing in it is lost: the Study Plan choice stays available on the dashboard, and every preference can be changed later in Settings.

After the setup: your first real session

Whether you finished the guided setup or skipped it, the first real session looks the same.

1. Decide whether you want a Study Plan

A Study Plan gives you a clear source to continue from each session.

  • Choose a Book plan if you are following a textbook.
  • Choose a Pathway plan if you want a goal-based sequence of collections.
  • Choose no plan if you prefer free browsing.

You can change this later. Switching plans never deletes words you have saved.

2. Save a small first batch

Open Explore, choose a useful collection, and add a small batch of words to My Vocabulary. Five to fifteen words is enough for a first session; the dashboard will suggest an exact daily pace once you have some history.

Do not add every interesting word. Add the words you are willing to review.

3. Review what you saved

Open Learn and start the combined All review. For each card:

  1. Recall the answer before revealing it.
  2. Show the answer.
  3. Rate honestly.

Use the ratings this way:

  • Again if you did not remember it.
  • Hard if you remembered with effort.
  • Good if you remembered normally.
  • Easy if it was genuinely effortless.

4. Check preferences that affect study

Open Settings and confirm:

  • Arabic font
  • transliteration, if it helps you
  • timezone and day-reset hour
  • preferred daily review load

These settings affect how Arabic appears, when Wise Arabic counts a review as "today", and how many new words it suggests each day.
