A good first session does not need much setup. Confirm only the choices that affect study: your Study Plan, Arabic display, timezone, review-day reset, and preferred daily review load.
The guided setup after sign-up already asked about most of these. This page is for checking them, and for changing them when your study pattern changes. Display and scheduling live in Settings; your Study Plan can be changed from the Study Plan page or Settings.
Choose whether to use a Study Plan
A Study Plan gives you a default source to continue from.
- Choose a Book plan if you are following a textbook.
- Choose a Pathway plan if you want an ordered sequence around a goal.
- Choose no plan if you prefer to browse freely.
You can only have one active plan at a time, but it does not limit what you can save. You can add words from anywhere, and switching plans does not remove words from My Vocabulary.
If you are unsure, read Choosing a study plan before choosing one.
Choose your Arabic display
Open Settings and check how Arabic appears.
- Arabic font: use the default if it is comfortable; switch if another style is easier for you to read.
- Transliteration: enable it only if romanised support helps you at your current stage.
For script learning, transliteration can help early on. For long-term reading, do not let it replace direct Arabic recognition.
Set timezone and review-day reset
Spaced repetition depends on when Wise Arabic considers a review day to begin and end.
- Timezone controls due counts, streaks, and review history.
- Day-reset hour controls when one review day becomes the next.
The default reset is 3 AM so late-night study stays on the same review day. If you usually study after midnight, set the reset hour to match that habit.
Set your preferred daily review load
The preferred daily review load tells Wise Arabic how many reviews you can sustain on a normal day. The dashboard uses it to suggest how many new words to save each day, so future reviews stay near a load you can keep up with.
Start with a modest number. You can raise it once your review habit is steady. See Your daily pace for how the number is used.
